Dick Penny is Managing Director of Watershed in Bristol and has been since 1998. Watershed is a lead partner in the Pervasive Media Studio, a creative technologies collaboration with University of the West of England and University of Bristol. Watershed works across the Cultural and Creative Industries as a catalyst and connector, innovating at the intersection of society, arts and technology.
Since 1980 Dick has worked in the creative sector as producer, manager and consultant. As a theatre producer credits include the World Premiere of When the Wind Blows adapted by Raymond Briggs from his book; Pete Postlethwaite in Macbeth; and two award winning one man shows: Baglady with Sorcha Cusack and Scaramouche Jones with Pete Postlethwaite which premiered at the Dublin Festival and toured internationally.Dick is also playing a leading role in Connecting Bristol to deliver a digital inclusion strategy for Bristol. He is a past Chair of Bristol Old Vic Theatre and the Bristol Partnership LSP. He is currently Chair of the Bristol BBC Anchor Partnership, Chair of the WoE LEP Creative Sector Group, and a Bristol Partnership Executive Board member. In 2011 he received an MBE for services to the creative industries.
